Next Generation Serial device server for Device Networking: HelloDevice Super Series

Sena Technologies is pleased to introduce the Next Generation serial device server, "HelloDevice Super Series" that brings High-end features such as PCMCIA, flexible host mode, powerful security, event handling, and flexible customization to manage the RS232/422/485 based serial devices over the network.

The HelloDevice Super Series supports connection-oriented communication modes such as TCP Server, TCP Client and TCP Server/Client, and connectionless modes such as UDP Server and UDP Tunneling. In modem emulation mode, the Super Series acts like a modem and presents a modem interface to the attached serial device. It accepts AT-style modem commands and makes raw RS-232/422/485 data to travel across a local LAN. In addition, it supports an enhancement transmission method, "Multicasting" that sends same serial data from serial device to 32 remote hosts simultaneously.

The HelloDevice Super Series employs an embedded Linux Operating system and facilitates user customization using command-line interface or one of several prepared scripts, using UNIX/Linux commands. Sena provides easy to use Software Development Kit (SDK) environment to quickly develop custom applications that run on the HelloDevice Super Series. In addition, user can manipulate the raw data stream between remote host and serial device by adding a filtering program.  Users can customize the web management interface, and integrate the programmed dynamic web pages to web menu.

PCMCIA interface of the HelloDevice Super Series supports PC cards such as LAN/Wireless LAN card to access another network, PSTN/CDMA card for out-of-band access, and Flash Memory card for storage. The HelloDevice Super Series supports SSLv2, SSLv3 and TLSv1 for secure data communication and RC4 encryption mode to encrypt/decrypt the entire TCP stream with the user configured key string. In addition, HTTPS is for secure data transfer over the web, SCP is for secure file transfer, and IP filtering is for secure access to serial devices.

The HelloDevice Super Series allows the user to save serial device log and system log to the internal memory (RAM), a compact-flash card, a syslog server, or to an NFS server. "Serial device event handling" system instantly notifies users of serial device errors or failures. This system continuously monitors the attached serial devices, detects predefined messages and automatically generates email alerts.

In today's environment where technology is being embraced more and more in non-traditional areas of business, catching the wireless wave is something to consider and properly plan for. The HelloDevice Super Series is available in 1, 4 and 8 port models and offers a solution for almost every networking need.

Railway bridge monitoring using serial ethernet converter: HelloDevice Super Series

As today's computing environment becomes increasingly complex and is subjected to ongoing change, TCP/IP technology has been introduced into modern bridge monitoring systems (BMS) in the areas of Sensor monitoring and data acquisition. Because, the need to capture and analyze the sensor data is quickly becoming a very real need to closely monitor crack propagation and other conditions on the bridge. By using long gage length deformation sensors, it is possible to gain actionable information from the bridge.

In the past, Sensors placed on the bridge had been connected to field computers, which are in turn linked to a host computer using RS232 serial lines. To meet these demanding requirements, Sena serial to ethernet gateway "HelloDevice Super Series" can be used for Ethernet based Sensor data acquisition and monitoring system, which will speed the acquisition of critical process information by driving internet/intranet technologies down to the sensor level.

By Using "HelloDevice Super Series", sensor readings can be recorded and analyzed, and results are stored in the field computer's memory, where they can be uploaded to the host on command. In addition, real-time data monitoring allows assessment of individual lift cycles, making it possible to sit and watch the strain gages and clinometers indicate the stresses and movements of the bridge during its hourly lift cycle.

Serial to ethernet converter for Health-care equipment: HelloDevice Pro Series

The health care industry is one of the most dynamic and dominant industries today. With each year, new and exciting technologies change our understanding of health and illness, and as a consequence, the manner in which health care is provided to us. As these new technologies emerge and our knowledge grows, the industry changes rapidly. But as the industry changes, the mission remains essentially the same -- delivery of health care services to the community. At the same time, rapid growth in the Network connectivity and network access devices gives flexible and convenient access to connect health care equipment

The "HelloDevice Pro Series" is a serial to ethernet converter from Sena Technologies that can be used to monitor, control and manage the medical equipment such as therapy systems, medical linear accelerators, simulators systems, resuscitation equipment, diagnostic test equipment allows centralize the operation and the management of healthcare equipment.

Virtually almost all medium-size and large health care organizations already have LANs. By connecting healthcare equipment to Sena's serial-ethernet converter, healthcare providers can take advantage of existing Ethernet equipment and cabling without reconfiguring the physical plant.
